I’d never given much thought about cannolis until visiting Boston.  The cannolis I had at Modern Pastry and Mike’s Pastry totally changed my opinion of this humble Italian sweet.  An awesome cannoli is worth an extra trek to find how Rome does it best.  Some Google and TripAdvisor searching directed me to I Dolci Di Nonna Vicenza.

We came to I Dolci Di Nonna Vicenza quite close to closing time.  We should not have been surprised to find their selection quite slim.  These were the only cannoli left.

At Mike’s and Modern, the cannolis are filled only after you’ve ordered it, which keeps the cannoli crispy crunchy.  The filling ends up tasting fresh and chilled.  I wouldn’t say there was much notable in these cannolis in that respect.  I also found the filling a tad too sweet.  Overall, a disappointment.  Maybe we should have come earlier in the day for the freshest pickings.
