Coming from Southern California, I am not so inclined to eat Mexican food unless I am visiting a place that has more Mexican people than my home state.  However, Los Tacos No. 1 came highly recommended to me by another food blogger.  It also seemed to be one of the more popular spots at Chelsea Market.  For a weekday, the place was packed.

Adobada
This was easily the best taco.  The meat was juicy and packed with flavor.

Chicken
As good as a chicken taco can get.

Nopales
Nopales can be a bit slimy if you’re not accustomed to it.  I appreciated the char and smokiness.

Carne Asada
I was expecting the carne asada to knock my socks off, but it was an easy second to the marinated pork.

I can see why people get so excited about the tacos here.  They are definitely tasty and authentic.  The salsas are plentiful and well balanced with just the right amount of heat.  The meats are juicy and flavorful. The pork is easily the standout here.  I think if you’re a New Yorker or an East Coaster in need of some great Mexican food, than Los Tacos No. 1 will hit the spot.  If you’re visiting from a place with great Mexican food already, you’ll have a good meal but you wouldn’t be missing out on anything.
