With all my traveling to San Francisco, I’ve been in need of good eats close to SFO.  Sometimes you just gotta grab and go because we all know eating at the airport totally sucks.  Usually, I’m content eating something casual and Asian.  There is plenty of that surrounding the airport.  On this occasion, we were picking up Overlord and Carnivorous Lush from SFO, and were looking for a quick stop before heading up to Napa.  Overlord is pretty particular so I wouldn’t think he would be satisfied with just average Asian food.  I knew I had to find something a little more special to kick off our foodie filled weekend.  What’s more special than lobster rolls?

Seasonal Lobster Roll bacon, avocado
I think Overlord and Carnivorous Lush enjoyed this one.

Lobster Bisque
Not much lobster meat, but the flavor was good.  Not too creamy.

Dressed Lobster Roll mayo, salt, pepper
I like my lobster rolls cold with mayo.  This delivered just that.  The meat was mostly tail and claw.  The mayo was really light and the freshness of the sweet lobster meat shone through.  The cole slaw and chips are forgettable.

Naked Lobster Roll just pure meat
The Annoyer likes his lobster roll warm with butter.  I thought this was a little plain, but achieved the most unadulterated flavor.

The lobster rolls here were solid.  Way better than crappy ass Slapfish in Laguna Beach, but not as good as Neptune in Boston.  Of course the rolls here are cheaper than the pure tail meat rolls in Boston.  At $19-$22, they are still quite the splurge for an everyday lunch.  I think everyone was pleased, but maybe not blown away.  Either way, I think it’s a great option for a quick bite close to SFO, but I wouldn’t really leave the city for these unless you’re just a die hard lobster roll fan.
