Our final meal in Busan was at Daedo, a Korean BBQ restaurant specializing in non marinated meat.  It was the most tourist and English friendly spot during our entire trip.  It’s location at The Bay 101, a hip and trendy shopping/eating destination and yacht club, is more of a tourist hot spot than the rest of the places we visited.  The Bay 101 has some cool hipsterie things like a fish & chips eatery, a real milk soft serve joint, and a Garrett’s Popcorn shop.  There is also a large outdoor area right on the waterfront.  It’s a scenic place to just hang out, evident in the hoards of youngsters crowding the place with their selfie sticks in tow.  We came for a weekday lunch so the restaurant was pretty empty.

Sirloin
For being regular cuts of unmarinated sirloin, the meat was extremely flavorful and tender.  While Wagyu and Kobe beef seem to permeate the menus of many restaurants throughout the world, it doesn’t seem to make its mark on Korean BBQ places.  I actually didn’t even like the few Korean BBQ places I went to that served high end beef.  I felt the meat was too fatty without much flavor.  Some of the cuts here are very marbled but did not taste heavy.DSC00594DSC00595

The beef was some of the best I had in Busan.DSC00596

Doengjang Jjigae Porridge
We had the choice of fried rice or porridge.  I never had doengjang jjigae porridge so we went with that.  DSC00597DSC00598

A little salty, funky, spicy, and of course, a warming end to the meal.DSC00599

Watermelon Slushie
I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect sweet refreshing end to our excellent meal.  The watermelon was really sweet, maybe too sweet to be natural.DSC00600

Daedo had amazing quality meat.  I think even Area Codes was impressed by the place and he has been here before, though it had been a while.  I guess he forgot how good it was.  The place is probably the most English friendly, so definitely make a trip here if you want non marinated Korean BBQ meat.  I wish there were more variety of meats, but we just had 2 types.  In all honestly, it tasted pretty darn similar.  I love the variety in Korean food with all the different banchan, sauces, meats, accountrements, etc.  Daedo keeps things pretty simple, so that would be my only ding.
