Chuka Soba Inoue
Google Maps
The other food stand with the long line at Tsukiji Market is Chuka Soba Inoue, which is just down the way from Kitsuneya. The large crowd hovering around this spot grabbed my attention. Some quick Googling clued me into the fame and legitimacy of the ramen served here. While it is not the tonkotsu ramen The Annoyer and I love so much, it is still ramen nonetheless so I had to try it.
Ramen
They serve a chicken based shoyu flavored broth here. So it is far lighter and cleaner tasting than a tonkotsu broth. They serve the wavy type of ramen noodles, which is my personal preference. The chasu was very lean, and probably not made from pork belly. It tasted like a pork tenderloin to me. I appreciated the overall lightness of this type of ramen but The Annoyer thought it was too bland. I agree that a bowl of this isn’t like a punch in the face of flavor and fat, but it was tasty enough.
I think if you’re at Tsukiji, Chuka Soba Inoue is worth a try for a cleaner and lighter ramen than the famed tonkotsu type. I probably would not go out of my way for this place.
