The night we wanted to come here for dinner, the restaurant had an unfortunate black out.  A crowd of bewildered guests and stressed out looking employees surrounded the entrance.  It was unclear if the electrical situation was going to be fixed anytime soon, so we ended up at Quimet y Quimet.  You followers will know that meal didn’t turn out so well for us.

Oysters
Oysters in Europe are much brinier than the ones Stateside.  These were still good.

Razor Clams a la Plancha
These were SO goddamn GOOD.  They were incredibly fresh and sweet, and even more enhanced by the bit of caramelization from the grill top.  YUMS!!!

Seasonal Tomato Salad with Tuna and Anchovies
I was starting to notice a terrible dearth of vegetables in our Spanish diet.  They suggested this when I inquired into vegetable dishes.  I didn’t know there would be tuna and anchovies on top as well.  Oh well.  It all went together quite nicely with great olive oil, balsamic, thinly sliced sweet onions, salty pungent anchovies, and big juicy ripe tomatoes.

Boneless Suckling Iberian Pig
Holy baby Jesus!  The pork was succulent with perfectly crispy skin.  It was marvelously seasoned and enhanced with the savory glaze.  Heaven on a plate for sure.  YUMS!!!!!!!

Deboned Oxtail with Mashed Potatoes

It was hard to follow the suckling pig with plain old tender luscious oxtails, but we managed to enjoy this dish nonetheless.  Warm, comforting, and not for those seeking a light dish.

Millefuille with Cream “Form Vilamala”
After the spectacular savory courses, this was a bit of a let down.  The whole thing seemed a bit on the stale side.  I wished I had ordered the torrijas.

Bar Canete was definitely one of the stand out meals in Barcelona.  Everything was at minimum solid, and the suckling pig and razor clams really knocked it out of the park.  Service was warm and friendly.  They are certainly no stranger to tourists, ready with menus in Spanish, Catalan, English, and French.  The menu is large and tantalizing.  I would return in a heart beat so I could try everything they had to offer.
