I thought my search for naengmyun in Orange County was over when I tried Yu Chun Bunsik.  The offering here had some minor dings, but it was the best I could get without driving to my OG favorite in LA, Yu Chun Chic Naeng Myun.  Somewhere along the way Yu Chun Bunsik folded and Gangnam Eomuyi rose in its place.  Mark my words, I will drive no more to LA to get my naengmyun fix.  Gangnam Eomuyi hits the spot and the service is GREAT to boot.

The salad and banchan are nothing too special here.

Chic Bibim Naengmyun
Everything is right about the naengmyun here.  The noodles are cold, slippery, and chewy.  The cucumbers, pears, and pickled radishes are crisp and crunchy.  The sauce is perfectly balanced between sweet, sour, and spicy.  One occasion, I had a serving where the pickled things are overpickled, so that’s my only complaint thus far.  I’m not sure how it works, but there have been times where they’ve offered us extra noodles.  We didn’t understand what they were trying to say but another waitress came by to let us know the extra noodles would be free.  We were pleasantly surprised but still declined because one bowl is quite enough already.

On another occasion when I’ve ordered the kimchi mandu, they came by and plopped down an extra 2 dumplings for us, also free of charge.  The staff here is just so friendly and warm, free food aside.  Maybe they are trying to garner more business, or maybe that’s just who they are.  Whatever the case may be, they have certainly won me over and this place has become one of my favorite places to eat.  The Annoyer, Mama Cracks-that-Whip, and King of Beefcakes (formerly known as Background Guy) have all eaten here with me and thoroughly enjoyed the cold noodles.  I have not tried the other dishes but some places only need 1 awesome dish to keep me coming back for more.
