After a post breakfast stroll taking in the gray morning mist of Haeundae Beach…

…we headed over to Gwangalli Beach where we were treated to a stunning view of the Gwangandaegyo Bridge or “Diamond Bridge.”  The bridge may seem a little underwhelming here, but it is beautiful at nighttime.

According to Area Codes, Wonjo Unyang has the best bulgogi in town.  I’ve never been a super fan of bulgogi, preferring galbi and other cuts of beef with less marinade and more texture.  I often find bulgogi too sweet and kinda mushy.  But in Area Codes I put my full trust.

The bulgogi here was probably the best I’ve had.  The marinade was well balanced with salt and sweet.  The meat was high quality, and though very finely sliced still retained delicious texture.

Kimchi Jjigae
No meal in Korea is complete without some sort of soup.  The kimchi jjigae here was particularly memorable.  Sometimes it can be too stinky, or most times too sour, but this was juuuuust right.  I suppose unusual for kimchi jjigae, this one had meat in it.  Perhaps that gave this soup more depth and tempered the fermented funk.

Wonjo Unyang was in fact some of the best bulgogi I have eaten.  It’s probably a must eat spot in Busan since Area Codes also took The Annoyer here during his previous visits to Busan.  While the restaurant wasn’t busy during our weekday lunch, Area Codes assured us this place is quite popular and usually packed during peak times.  I would certainly return here if I were ever in Busan again.
